| Florida's unique DD Medicaid waiver system for individuals with developmental disabilities is teetering on the edge of collapse. We have sustained cut, after cut, after cut while the population of individuals with developmental disabilities continues to grow. We just cannot sustain any more cuts, or loose additional critical services. Funding for individuals with developmental disabilities has not kept pace with the cost of providing services. |
| |
- In the past five years, services have been cut by more than $100 million in state funds alone.
- Proposed funding for individuals with developmental disabilities is only slightly higher than it was for FY 2005-2006, however, the program is now serving more individuals.
- Thousands of families throughout Florida have had their services dramatically reduced or had services eliminated.
The DD Waiver system is not adequately funded and is trying to serve too many individuals with not enough dollars. Adequate funding for individuals with developmental disabilities must be addressed during the 2012 Legislative session.
The waiver requires an additional $26 million in state funding to remain stable.
Failure to provide funding of at least $870 million will create a crisis for Florida’s most vulnerable citizens! |
